  Helsinki is a big, long growthy Landrace boar from an excellent litter.  There were four other outstanding boars in this litter and the three biggest and most impressive gilts in a pen of 20 were also littermates to Helsinki.  All five boars were big-framed, long-bodied boars with good bone and ruggedness.  A tall-fronted boar, Helsinki comes at you wide up front with a bold shoulder and excellent spring of rib.  He has excellent muscle definition down his very clean top and a big thick muscular rump and ham.  A sound, well-balanced boar, he has an excellent 8-8 underline.  His sire, Homeros, was a home raised boar still at the Hyvonen Farm.  The other sires of this group of imported Finnish boars were at AI Centers and thus, we were not allowed to view them.  Homeros is a very tall-fronted, big-framed boar with excellent cushion to his front legs and big even toes.  Homeros’dam, Lissu, was one of the best sows ever at Hyvonen with a lifetime average of 13.7 farrowed alive, 11.1 weaned and 172 lb 21-day litter weight for seven parities.  Helsinki is out of a litter of 14 farrowed, 14 weaned and 200 lb. (91kg) 21-day litter weight.  His dam, Moo is a big, extra long-bodied sow that was raising 12 pigs in her 5^th litter while we were at the farm.  Helsinki’s four great grandams all have excellent number weaned and 21-day litter weights.  Helsinki is an impressive Finnish Landrace boar that can make them big and lean yet rugged, sound and durable with outstanding maternal traits.
