  • Several purebred Durocs including the Reserve Champion Barrow and Grand Champion Pen of Three won classes at a very strong county show in Iowa Judged by Dr. Hodson.  After the show Dr. Hodson discovered these pigs were sired by a boar purchased by Durwood Purdy from Bidners at the 1988 World Pork Expo.
  • When we went to the Purdy farm to see the sire,  PAYOFF; we were very impressed by his scale, extreme freedom of fat, excellent muscle shape over the top and down through his ham, substance of bone and correct structural design.
  • PAYOFF’s pedigree is backed by several generations of lean, heavy muscled Durocs.  His sire, Wide Load, reached 230 lb in 132 days with 0.72 in backfat and a 6.80 sq in loin eye.  Wide Load sired two Illinois State Fair Champion Duroc barrows.  When slaughtered at the Illinois State Fair five purebred Duroc barrows sired by Wide Load had actual average carcass figures 32.3 in long, 0.82 in backfat and 6.25 sq in loin eye.
  • PAYOFF’S maternal grandsire,  Pop Eye, had the following performance:  138 days 230 lb. 0.65 in BF, 6.40 sq in LEA.  PAYOFF’s 7/8 brother (also sired by Wide Load) is rapidly proving to be one of the best sires ever imported into Japan by Pacific Ocean Breeding in terms of consistently siring fast growing, lean, heavy muscled and sound Durocs.
  • If you want to make your hogs bigger in their kind with less fat and more lean, yet maintain heaviness and correctness of structure.  PAYOFF can do the job.
