  • BIG JOHN was the Champion Boar at the 1985 Southeast Duroc Conference.  He is an extremely long-bodied boar yet carries excellent thickness from end to end.  He has a musculing head, bold, correctly set shoulders, extra spring of rib and a wide, thick muscular rump.
  • BIG JOHN is also a very level-designed boar with good length of neck, a loose and flexible spinal structure & a long, level rump with a high tail setting.  He is a deep ribbed boar that stands on good bone and particularly big feet with even toe size.
  • BIG JOHN is a sound, free, easy moving boar with excellent rear leg and hip structure and a high quality underline.  He is from one of the best litters at McDaniels (10 farrowed, 8 weaned) in terms of uniformity of superior performance and type.
  • BIG JOHN's maternal grandsire, Super Commander, was the $6200 Reserve Champion tested boar at the 1984 Southeast Duroc Conference.  His offspring which include SGI 149 Reform (3.07 per day with only 0.74 BF) have established a tremendous record in central test stations.  Four littermate boars to BIG JOHn‛s dam went into purebred herds and are doing an excellent job of generating better Durocs.
  • BIG JOHN‛s sire was a member of the outstanding 47 litter in the November 1984 Parrish sale and had the extra heaviness of structure and foot size typical of the Red Bones.  To prevent any "cave-ins"  from occurring in your breeding program, add a pillar of strength through the bred-in superior genetics of BIG JOHN.
