- Because of the many commitments at the World Pork Expo, most of the SGI personnel did not have the opportunity to watch the Hampshire Show. However in evaluating the boars back in the alleys after the show, it was our unanimous opinion that Wynott excelled in putting together frame size, leanness and muscle in a very sound, function design.
- Wynott is from an outstanding litter. He was the leanest and top-indexing boar with one of the fewest days in his contemporary group. Littermate boars were 3rd, 10th, 11th and 12th indexing and all had backfat scans under 0.54 inches and over 6.2 loin eye areas. The five littermate 62 litter boars averaged 156 days, 0.48 BF and 6.48 LEA. A littermate gilt was the champion and second top selling gilt at the Expo. Peters retained two additional superior females from the 62 litter.
- Wynott is bred to be lean and muscular. His sire had 0.44 inch backfat and a 7.38 loin eye area and is the 8th ranking sire in EPDS for backfat (-0.06) in the Hampshire Crossherd Sire Summary. His dam is one of the very best young sows in the Peters’ herd. Wynott is from a litter of eight farrowed and eight weaned and his dam has a 144 lb 21-day litter weight average on her first two litters.
- Wynott is a long-bodied, upstanding, heads-up boar that is super sound and aggressive. He has excellent natural body width being thick shouldered, boldly sprung in his rib cage and extra wide out through his long, level rump.
- He has excellent muscle definition down his top with a dimple above his tail and a big three dimensional ham (length, depth and width) that abounds with muscle expression as he walks. Wynott has a very good underline and testicle size.
- In order to produce terminal pigs that can stay lean to heavier weights, frame size along with natural leanness and muscle volume are important factors. Wynott an offer you these in a sound, functional package; so “why not” give him a try.
