ELI really explodes with muscle and is bred to be that way. His sire is the old Elijah boar bred and used at John Newlin’s. He had a 7.89 LEA and sired many offspring that had 7 to 10 inch loin eyes for Newlin’s. On the bottom side, ELI’s dam is a line bred Cedar Ridge Geyser 5-2. Geyser 5-2 is the side of Kilmer’s Gusto boar who is one of the top ranking Hampshire boars in BF EPDs and Maternal Line Index. Gusto in turn sired Masterpiece, another top ranking boar in EPDs for BF. Both of these outstanding sires consistently added loin and butt muscle. ELI’s dam is still going strong after seven parities with a lifetime average of 9.1 born live and 8.6 weaned. She is bred similar to the dam of Birchwood’s Jolly 52-7 and Brother J that scanned 0.40 and 0.47 BF with 7.60 and 7.20 loin eyes. In addition to his tremendous muscle expression that is exemplified by his huge bulging ham, ELI is a super trim boar that is totally free of excess fat. He is particularly trim in his jowl, along the lower shoulder and about his middle. A well-balanced, long-bodied, free-moving boar, ELI is also a heads-up, very aggressive boar. ELI is definitely the most extreme Hampshire boar at SGI in terms of muscle and leanness, yet has excellent growth and is bakced by superior sow productivity.
