Blackhawk 6-5 was admired at the 1997 Indiana State Fair for his extra length of body, frame size, big, lean top; and, of course, his enormous hams.
-
He is a sire of choice for customers wanting excellent barrows that will excel both on foot and on the rail. The phone started ringing about this guy immediately after SGI purchased him. Many who saw him in Indiana were impressed and interested in ordering semen.
-
His potential to sire long bodied, huge framed, lean and heavy muscled, eye poppin offspring was fore-front in their mind.
-
Blackhawk is also appreciated for his heaviness of structure, correctness of design and soundness of feet and legs.
-
He is three dimensional in his makeup; featuring a big bold shoulder and good width down his top and out through his rump as well as through his center and lower body cavity.
-
He moves out free and easy with abundant substance of bone, well-founded on good feet and even toes.
-
By reviewing the data from the show, one can easily see that Blackhawk was extremely lean relative to his weight. He scanned an actual 0.67 inch backfat at 325 pounds! He also had the largest loin eye in the Hampshire Show with a whopping 10.8. He definitely answers the call for bigger, leaner and heavier muscled hogs.

Blackhawk is from a litter of eleven farrowed and nine weaned. He is a full brother to the herd boar called “Raptor” owned by Robin Ridge Farm-Rodibaughs and is a ¾ brother to the $28,000 “Next Step” at Lean Value Sires. Blackhawk’s sire, JNNS4 Tunner 100-1, and the dam of the Peffer Stock Farm’s entries at Indiana that sold for $80,000 and $42,000, respectively, are out of the same sow.

Blackhawk is phenotypically right for the American Pork Industry and genetically capable in areas of greatest economic emphasis. He is long in every skeletal component and lean and muscular in carcass composition. He is a well-balanced specimen with excellent design, extra rib capacity and three dimensional muscle.
-
Quite simply, he is “One of a Kind”.
