- Rock was selected because of the phenomenal record of his offspring in the Minnesota performance barrow contests.
- He sired the Champion (live and overall) and third place production barrows at the 1981 Minnesota State Fair as well as the Champion and Reserve Champion production open barrows (live and overall) at the 1982 Minnesota Spring Barrow Show. These four barrows averaged; 2.06 pounds gain per day from a starting weight of 25 lb, 321 lb at 179 days of age with only 0.97 actual BF and 7.25 sq in LEA. Six other barrows sired by Rock and slaughtered between 210 and 240 lb averaged: 31.4 in long, 0.72 BF and 6.22 sq in LEA.
- Rock is from an outstanding litter which included the Champion gilt and two high placing boars at the 1980 National Barrow Show, Champion boar at the 1980 Illinois State Fair and a herd boar retained by Stanley Martins. Twenty daughters of Rock in the Drescher Bros. herd averaged 8.72 pigs weaned in their first litter.
- Rock is a wide-made, big volume yet very lean boar with very good structural design and soundness.
- He certainly has demonstrated the ability to sire tremendously fast growing offspring that have superior carcass characteristics.
