• Fjord has done a tremendous job of siring bigger scaled, extremely lean hogs.  In the November 1994 Duros Across-Herd Sire Summary, sons of Fjord were ranked 1st, 7th and 11th for backfat and 1st, 2nd and 12th for Terminal Sire Index. 
• EXPLORER combines the frame size, extra length of body and extreme leanness of his sire, Fjord, with phenomenal loin shape normally seen in the Nathan’s and tremendous ham muscle of the Danish imports, Steroid and Body Builder.  He is an extremely clean fronted, trim shouldered, trim middled boar that still grew very well (107.1 growth ratio.)  On the bottom side, EXPLORER’s dam, granddam and granddams’ littermate are big framed, long bodied, heavy structured and performance of 150 days to 230, 0.64 BF and 6.49 LEA.  EXPLORER’s maternal grandsire is the $17,000 National Barrow Show top selling boar, AG Warrior, whose daughters have consistently risen to the top at Comparts in terms of producing fast growing, lean, heavy structured Durocs. 
• Like his maternal ancestors, EXPLORER is a sound, functional boar with more structure and foot size than most boars sired by the Danish imports.  He has an excellent underline with extremely good nipple quality. 
• EXPLORER also shows the tremendous sex drive of the Danish imports and Warrior line.  EXPLORER is definitely the best Danish sired boar we have discovered to date with a remarkable combination of frame size, leanness and muscle in a havey structured, very functional package. 
• We are confident with powerful genetics on both sides of his pedigree that he will have a resounding impact; whether used for production of purebred Durocs, terminal line genetics or for show barrows.
