  • The search for purebred Chester breeding herds focused on maternal predictability are fewer and far between these days
  • However, SGI can always depend on Randy Schmidt and family who have "Stayed The Course" on providing a program of consistency of herd health, soundness and adaptability, longevity and excellerated production merit in the genetic lines they produce and offer for sale
  • Spooner is the twelfth maternal Chester boar that SGI has purchased to date from Schmidts.  All purchases have contributed positively to SGI's customer base needs for maternal Chesters.
  • Spooner supports a young flexible skeleton with excellent angle, flex and set to his hind legs.  He expresses great shape to his center rib and over all functional design.  His foot size, bone mass, looseness, correct structure, and total soundness are major strengths
  • Sired by SGI 565 RS1 Live Wire 62-3, the 2011 NBS Hog College and $10,000 Top Selling Chester.  He is the pinnacle of soundness and flexibility.  A very active, heads up, eye appealing, perfect designed package, Live Wire has a great build whether you are interested in the show arena or building improved Chesters
  • Live Wire was the 2013 NBS Chester White "Super Sire".  His progeny pen had the second best soundness score of all purebred sired pens tested on total slats
  • Paternal grandsire, Rudy's Legacy, was a very consistent sire of growth, soundness and overall balance.  In 2011 his progeny pen at the NBS awarded him "Super Sire" honors.  This pen was the leanest Chester White pen and had the third largest loin eyes overall breeds.  His pen had the highest soundness score of any breed at 8.3
  • Maternal grandsire, Henry The 8th, was also a 2011 NBS Progeny Test Super Sire and Porque Award winner for the Chester White breed.  Only one other boar in the test won both awards.  He had the 4th highest Super Sire index and 6th highest Porque Award index over all breeds
  • Favre, the sire of both grandams was the 2010 Progeny Test "Super Sire" and Porque Award winner; Spooner's litter is a great-grandson and great-grandaughter mating of Anna 141-13.  She raised twelve litters with a farrowing interval of 145.4 days.  She has farrowed 172 pigs (14.33 average) and weaned 135 for an 11.25 average.  Her 21 day litter weights have been as high as 214 lbs with an average of 168.7 lbs.  Her overall SPI is a 121.25 with EPDs of +0.58 born alive and a +10.80 21-day litter weight
  • Maternal grandam, RS0 P8 Anna 4-9 was the top indexing sow in the herd and her dam, Anna 99-11 was as well top Indexing during her life time period in Schmidt's herd and littermate to SGI 561 Mothermaker's dam.  Anna 99-11's dam, Anna 141-13, is the highest SPI female in the herd ever
  • Spooner's dam is a real milker!  According to Randy Anna 11-10, Spooner's dam, is both phenotypically and production wise his very best matron currently in production
