ULLESTAD 424

• Ullestad is the widest sprung, thickest made Landrace boar of the three imports.  He is a big fronted hog that has a stout head, bold-meaty shoulders, wide chest floor and excellent spring of rib.
• He carries this extra thickness front to rear with a thick-muscular loin, a big hip, extra wide rump and a thick, muscular ham.
• He is also a level made and loose structured boar.  He has an excellent set to his shoulders and front legs, is very level down his top and out through his rump and has an extra high tail setting. Ullestad has good substance of bone and is a sound, free moving boar with an excellent underline.
• Both the sire and dam of Ullestad were long bodied, extra lean and muscular hogs with very good feet and legs.  There were several outstanding littermate gilts to Ullestad at Stickninge Farm and the entire litter excelled in body width and heaviness of structure.  Ullestad is backed by excellent sow productivity.
• HIs dam has averaged 10.8 born live and 9.5 weaned, 147 day farrowing interval and 23.3 pigs per year in 4 parities.  His paternal granddam has averaged 12.6 born live, 11.2 weaned and 25.0 pigs per year in five parities.  Ullestad sire's progency test has not been completed; however, he had only 9.5 cm (0.37) backfat at 97kg.  Ullestad's paternal grandsire had an excellet progeny test record.  His offspring had 0.25 lb faster daily gain and 0.24 lb less feed per lb gain than the test mean while averaging 0.58 in carcass BF and 61.3% lean.
• Ullestad should sire tough made, yet lean, and muscular offspring that excel in carcass and maternal traits.
• ON THE FARM PERFORMANCE: Ullestad was too young to scan when place in quarantine.
Littermate boar was 167 days to 115 kg, 11.5 mm(0.45 in) BF,
