His sire, Baxter 1-1 (frozen semen), was the Grand Champion Boar at the 1987 Iowa State Fair where his dam was the Grand Champion sow. Littermate gilts to 1-1 were Junior Champion at the Iowa State Fair and Reserve Grand Champion at Summer Type Conference
Al and Adam Conover have an excellent set of keeper gilts sired by Baxter 1-1 including five littermates to 1-3. The Baxter 1-1 offspring averaged 5.08% IMF
Baxter 1-3's dam was sired by Sherman 1-1 that was a tremendously wide, very rugged boar. He has consisently generated offspring that excell in natural width, bone, foot size and body volume as well as meat quality particularily intramuscular fat. Sherman daughters have also excelled in maternal traits.
