• Baxter was the Grand Champion Berkshire Boar at the 1987 Iowa State Fair and his dam was the Grand Champion Sow. 
• He is from an outstanding litter that also contained the Reserve Champion Gilt at the Summer Type Conference, the Iowa State Fair Junior and Reserve Grand Champion Gilt, plus an outstanding gilt retained by Adam Conover.  These three gilts averaged 164 days to 230 lb. 0.79 BF, 5.75 LEA. 
• Baxter is a big framed, large volumed, fast growing boar that stayed lean.  He has only 1.07 in BF and a 7.20 sq in LEA at 322 lb. 
• His maternal grandsire,  Silverado, was one of the top boars in the 1985 National Berkshire Test with 2.51 ADG, 0.90 BF at 250 lb, 6.30 LEA, and a 139.1 index.  Silverado has sired several champions and classwinners for Weldon's.  
• Baxter is a very sound, excellent structured boar.  He serviced and settled his first gilt at 6 1/2 months of age and serviced 14 gilts and sows before being exhibited at the Iowa State Fair at 8 months of age.  In 1988 Baxter sired the Champion Boar at the National Barrow Show. 
• Baxter also has excellent muscling with good shape to his top and a thick, muscular ham.  Many breeders from other breeds marveled at the excellence of Baxter at the Iowa State Fair. 
• We are confident he has the genetic strength to consistently transmit this excellence to his offspring.
