Pike is a very heavy structured, extra wide-made, tough and durable boar. He is very bold about his shoulder, extra big about his shoulder blades and has excellent spring of rib. He carries this extreme boldness of front out through a big, square hip and rump.

Pike has very good muscle expression down his top and through his rump and ham for a 2-year old boar. Tall fronted, heavy boned, big footed; Pike has excellent set to his shoulder, ideal cushion to front legs and a very good hip, hock and rear leg structure. He has a clean sheath, big testicles and a very good underline.

The offspring of the two former SGI boars, Great Northern and Chinook, as well a several other boars imported into the U.S. from Design Genetics, have all excelled in growth, ruggedness and reproductive performance. Certainly, their confidence in him was justified as he was one of the very best generators at Design Genetics of fast-growing, sound, functional yet lean Durocs that excelled both in the feedlot and farrowing house. His dam has a 148 day farrowing interval for 6 parities with an average of 10.2 pigs born and one of their highest within herd SPIs of 177.
