Stampede was the Champion and Top-Selling Boar at the 1999 Southwest Duroc Conference. He truly excels in combining extreme frame size and length of body with excellent muscle definition. He is a tall, long, very clean fronted boar that is ultra lean and very shapely down his top and has phenomenal flare and thickness to his rump and ham. Stampede also has very good spring of rib and natural body width. He has continued to grow since Belton and is one of the most extended, longest Duroc boars ever at SGI yet still displays that big butt everyone is looking for in the show pig arena. Stampede’s first offspring stand out in the nursery in terms of displaying a remarkable amount of muscle on a huge frame. Stampede’s sire, Spitting Image, has certainly made a name for himself during 1999. In addition to Stampede, Spitting Image sired the Reserve Champion and $4100 top selling gilt at the 1999 Southwest Duroc Conference. The $31,000 Reserve Duroc Boar, the $10,000 Kolb Boar and the Champion Duroc Gilt at the 1999 World Pork Expo were also sired by Spitting Image. Other winners by Spitting Image include the $9000 1999 Hog College Gilt, the Illinois State Fair Champion Boar and the $3000 Reserve Gilt at the 1999 Fall Classic. Stampede’s dam was purchased from Shipley Durocs. The Shade Oak Catalyst line has consistently excelled in leanness and muscle and has been prominent in the pedigree of many of the show winners the past few years. You can often find big-framed hogs as well as very heavily muscled hogs, but it is very difficult to put these together in one package.
