• Spike was a class winner and second high selling Duroc boar at the 1989 World Pork Expo.  He is an ultra lean, heavy muscled boar that is very long and level in his body design.  He stands on very good substance of bone, is bold about his shoulder and extra thick and muscular through his rump and ham. 
• SPIKE is a long necked-long fronted boar with extra cushion to his front legs.  He has remained very sound and functional.  He has a very high quality underline and is backed by several highly productive sows.  He is from a litter of 12 farrowed, 10 weaned with a 128 lb 21-day litter wieght.  His paternal granddam has been the most productive sow in the Shipley herd.  She has averaged 10.1 farrowed and 9.0 weaned in 12 litters and her littermate has averaged 9.9 farrowed, 8.2 weaned in 10 litters. 
• SPIKE's sire had excellent performance of 136 days to 230 lb, 0.68 BF, 5.96 LEA. 
• SPIKE is a sound, practical boar that should sire pigs that will grow rapidly and withstand the rigors of confinement plus bring a premium at the terminal market.
