• If you are wanting to produce truly superior females in terms of number born, number weaned, milking ability and longevity; Toumo 27-1 can be the answer.  He puts together the genetics of four of the best sows we have ever had the opportunity to see. 
• On the top side you have the dam of Tuomo 27-1’s sire, Tuomo 28, who averaged 16.0 farrowed, 13.5 weaned, 178 lb litter weight in her first three parities.  In turn her dam is the legendary Anis sow in Finland that was expeccting her 12^th litter when we last visited Finland.  She has an average of 15.1 born alive, 11.7 weaned and 174 lb 21-day weight. 
• On the bottom side Tuomo 27-1’s dam is a direct daughter of the original Ulf 166, the legend himself.  She has averaged 11.6 born alive and 139.1 litter weight for a remarkable 14 parities.  She averaged 158 lb 21-day litter weight after 5 parities and weaned almost one ton of pigs (1947 lb).  Her lifetime farrowing interval was 161 days.  However, excluding a long interval between her 7^th and 8^th litters and 12 & 13 litters, her farrowing interval is an excellent 145 days.  Her two littermates averaged 11.8 & 11.0 born alive, 147.0 & 146.4 lb 21-day litter weights and 157 & 145 days farrowing intervals for 6 and 11 parities, respectively. 
• Tuomo 21-1;s dam also has 11 daughters in the Legred herd that have averaged 6.5 parities to date (72 records), 11.3 born live and 151.6 lb 21-day litter weight.  The fourth outstanding sow in Tuomo 27-1’s pedigree is the 204 Swedish sow in Ulf’s pedigree that averaged 13.9 born live and 11.1 weaned for 13 parities.  These four sows have not only been super productive but they have all generated outstanding descendants that have made huge contributions to the Yorkshire breed in the U.S., Finland, Sweden and many other countries throughout the world. 
• Tuomo 27-1 is a very maternal appearing boar being extra long and loose fronted, very long and level topped with an excellent rump and rear leg structure.  An extremely agile, big footed boar with excellent teat quality, he has the look of a maternal sire.  At the same time he is a wide sprung, good boned, well muscled boar that is clean made and trim in his overall makeup.
