• HARL was one of the thickest bodied, thickest rumped Large White boars we saw in Sweden last December.  Since then he has really grown and stretched out. 
• He is not only going to be a thick centered boar with a big square rump but will also be a big framed, long bodied boar. 
• Like the other Swedish Large Whites imported in this group he has an excellent underline and is very sound on his feet and legs. 
• The 13 progeny test groups by HARL‛s sire, dam and maternal grandsire all received perfect 3.0 feet and leg scores.  Also, like the other Large White imports, he has the 142 sow that produced for 17 parities on both sides of his pedigree.  The 204 sow we marveled at while she stood in the gestation crate expecting her 14th litter is HARL‛s paternal great granddam. 
• HARL‛s dam has a breeding index of 104 and her 2 progeny test groups averaged 13 mm (0.52) in backfat,  67 grams greater daily gain and 23 lb less feed per 100 lb gain than the station average.  She has averaged 13 born live and 12.3 weaned in 4 litters. 
• HARL‛s maternal granddam averaged 12.1 born live and 10.2 weaned in 9 litters. 
• HARL‛s maternal grandsire had a breeding index of 113 and littermate boars to his paternal granddam has outstanding breeding indexes of 116 and 118.  These three boars (Urban, Spiro and Siren) have been very influential in the Swedish Large White breed during the past few years. 
• As several visitors to SGI have said, each of the Large White boars imported from Sweden have their strengths but are a little different in type. 
• However, it is difficult to decide which is your favorite since they all are lean, have excellent underlines, are sound on their feet and legs and are backed by outstanding sow productivity.  While his compatriot, Ulf, has grabbed much of the headlines, Harl has been steadily making a name for himself with commercial producers by consistently siring outstanding replacement females.
