• Checkmate offers living proof that great sires come from great sows.  His dam was the 1999 Hog College Hampshire female and top selling at $3,600.  Her pedigree reads big framed; long bodied hogs that are high in muscle expression and sound reproductively. 
• Checkmate was from a litter of 13 born alive, 12 weaned with a 158 lb litter weight.  Littermates included the legendary $200,000 Lifeline at Lifetime Genetics, Remember Me at McLemore’s, Lucky at Hoeweisher’s and The Eel at the Boar Stud.  All of the littermate females being retained in the MHM Genetics’ herd. 
• Checkmate’s sire Reachin Out 2-1 sold to Top Cut Show Pig Sires at the 1998 Fall Classic for a history making $75,000.  He was the Grand Champion Overall male prospect pig at that event and has become a sire supreme. 
• Checkmate’s dam is a daughter of Turning Point 13-1 who was a $16,000 class winning boar purchased by SGI at the 1998 Indiana State Fair.  He was a breed charger and was a belted boar that would make Hampshire bigger framed and certainly longer bodied.  Turning Point’s dam at the time of purchase was the very best sow in Watson’s herd, both phenotypically and in terms of maternal performance.  She had an accelerated SPI Score of 120.8 with a lifetime average after six parities of 11.5 pigs born alive and 130 pound 21-day litter weight average.  Turning Point was from a litter of 13 farrowed, 12 weaned with a ponderous 21-day litter weight of 172 lbs. 
• Checkmate is exceptional in his overall volume and expression of muscle, bigness of skeleton and length of body.  His top, rump and hams are extremely expressive and his youthful extended skeleton yields true growth and leanness.
