One of the most popular and best generating Hampshire boars at SGI has been Soren, Mohawk’s sire. He has consistently sired extreme leanness and muscle as evidenced by his recent progeny test pen at the Ames Test Station. They had slaughter figures of 0.49 BF and 8.03 LEA. Soren sired the reserve Champion Hampshire Boar at the 1994 National Barrow Show and the reports on F1 Hamp x Durocs sired by him have been phenomenal.

On the bottom side Jolly 16-4 is synonymous with muscle and leanness. The SGI show pig sire supreme, Trolley Kar, was by Jolly 16-4. The average scan on the over 200 head of Jolly 16-4’s sons has been 0.56 BF and 7.10 LEA.
