Cyclone created quite a whirlwind at the Iowa State Fair where he was the top selling boar and the most popular Hampshire in a number of years.
-
An outstanding boar phenotypically, Cyclone is backed by excellent performance and a pedigree that truly spells superior carcass attributes.
-
His sire, Premier John 29-11, is tied for first in the Hampshire breed for backfat EPDs with -0.15. John 29-11 had performance figures of 159 Days, 0.32 BF and 8.10 LEA. He sired the Champion carcass at Louisville that cut 0.35 BF, 11.50 LEA and 68.84% lean at 232 lb. Two hundred and fifty-three sons of John 29-11 have averaged 0.52 BF with 7.84 LEA.
-
On the bottom side, Cyclone traces to Premier IV whose sons and grandsons have dominated the ranking for backfat EPDs. Cyclone’s dam has a 114.77 maternal Index with an EPD of 1.39 for 21-day litter weight while four of her littermates have maternal indexes of 108.86. 103.80, 107.57 and 109.11. Although many of the boars with superior EPDs for backfat have less than desirable EPDs for days; Cyclone has an excellent EPD for days of -3.90. A big, lean, extra heavy muscled hog. Cyclone scanned only 0.0 backfat at 360 lbs and an 8.70 sq in loin eye when scanned just before the Iowa State Fair.
-
Cyclone is a wide based, big shoulder hog that comes at you with extra width of chest floor and leaves with tremendous butt and his legs squarely out on the corner.
-
Cyclone has excellent spring of rib, phenomenal muscle thickness and shape down his top and out through his rump. A well-balanced, stylish boar that handles his extreme muscle volume very well.
-
Cyclone has that extra pizzazz that it takes to make a winner at the most competitive barrow shows. Although there is no doubt abut Cyclone potential as a barrow sire, we are equally enthusiastic about his potential to create better Hampshires when you consider his combined excellence for growth and carcass along with the superior maternal record of his dam and four littermates.
