Main Event was recently leased from the Peter’s herd in Illinois. This son of Dug Out, bred by John Soorholtz, is a big scaled, correctly structured, long bodied, extremely lean and trim hog with a heavy-duty skeleton.
-
His boldness of front and shoulder, excellent muscle shape and leanness of top as well as the thickness and muscle expression of rump and ham all dictate that he will sire hogs with superior lean content.
-
Progeny of Main Event scanned in the Peter’s herd have averaged 0.68 BF and 6.18 LEA. At the 1991 Iowa State Fair, the Champion and Reserve Champion FFA Market Hogs and Champion 4-H Market Hogs were sired by Knock Out, another son of Dug Out.
-
Main Event’s pedigree links back several generations to many superior breeding boars such as Lumberjack, Bare Baron, Barrier, M43-1m Otto and Big Foot. Main Event’s sire, Dug Out, is a home raised son of the dependable Ludwig 40-7 boar who has a history of siring consistency of product, bone and growth. Ludwig 40-7 has also sired many superior producing daughters in the Soorholtz herd.
-
Main Event is unique in that he combines superior performance, carcass traits and reproductive traits into a very functional package. He has proven ability to sire both outstanding barrows and superior breeding stock.
-
We feel that Main Event offers as much potential for combining extreme leanness, muscle expression and carcass quality with superior reproductive performance as any Hampshire boar at SGI.
