Certainly, Muggs meets these criteria. His dam is sired by the outstanding Canadian sire, Donholm Pisa, who required only 125 days to 220 lb with 0.28 in. backfat. Pisa has compiled excellent EBV’s in Canada for both maternal and terminal traits and has a 137 EBV breeding index.

Muggs’ maternal granddam is the infamous Bitch sow from CVV who was an Adam x Tandem. She compiled over a nine pig weaned average and a 155 day farrowing interval for nine parities before her 10th litter of 11 pigs was taken by c-section to Legreds. However, her real claim to fame has been the tremendous generation power of her daughters. Bitch daughters have produced the 1990 NBS Hog College Gilt and Boar (Mainstream), a top indexing pen over all breeds at the Iowa Test Station, Paramont (the sire of the $14,250.00 Winter Type Conference Champion) and a number of other top performing individuals at CVV’s as well as in several other herds.
