3 LKZ8 AL 13-1

• AL 13-1 is ideally designed for confinement and backed by unexcelled longevity; a very important factor in total sow productivity in commercial operations.  His dam has farrowed and raised 11 litters to date and is still a very impressive, totally functional individual.  While housed in a slotted floor confinement unit, she rebred on first service every time except once.  She is of 917 Vinter av Angolag x Irish breeding, both known for their excellent confinement adaptability and longevity.  The 971 Vinter boar served at SGI when he was 7 years of age.  On the top side,
• AL 13-1 is a descendant of the immortal Fast Al 1-1 and the tremendously productive and long lifed Diane 18-5 sow at Temple’s.  Fast Al stood at SGI when he was 9 years of age and served until 11 years of age at Cornhusker Farms. 
• AL 13-1 is a heavier muscled clone of Fast Al 1-1.  He has the same heaviness of structure, boldness of shoulder, tremendous spring and thickness of center rib and ideal set of feet and legs featuring particularly large, even toes with a deep heel.  He is a level topped, long-level rumped boar that has a good amount of muscle volume to his shoulder, loin, rump and ham. 
• AL 13-1, his highly productive littermate sister, dam, and both granddames as well as his offspring all have exceptional teat and udder quality and have been excellent pig raisers.  His dam averaged 10.9 farrowed live, 9.0 weaned and 127 lb 21-day litter weight in her 11 litters to date. 
• AL 31-1’s outstanding littermate sister has averaged 11.3 farrowed, 10.7 weaned, 151.3 lb 21-day litter weight and a 116.3 litter weight ratio in her first three parities.  His paternal granddam.  Diane 18.5, was an outstanding specimen of superior productivity and longevity.  In 8 parites she had an 11.63 average born live, a remarkable 12.0 weaned after transfer and 147.4 lb 21-day litter weight (only the last five litters were weighed).  His maternal granddam averaged 13.9 born live and 10.2 weaned in her first 6 parities while the dam of his maternal grandsire averaged 13.4 born live,  11.4 weaned and 150.4 lb 21-day litter weight for 5 parities. 
• AL 13-1 has been used in a Kyburz multiplier herd.  His first F1 daughters have excelled in udder quality and milking ability along with heaviness of structure, thickness of body and muscle as well as overall structural soundness. 
• AL 13-1 puts together four extremely important traits that have made Landrace a superior maternal line:  confinement adaptability, longevity, structural soundness and total sow productivity including ease of rebreeding after weaning. 
• When you add this to his extra heaviness of structure and superior muscle volume, we are confident AL 13-1 can have a major impact in designing hogs for the 90’s.
