• Rosette Court was named a 1998 NBS Super Sire based on his progeny test from the Mike Killingsworth’s herd.  He sired the leanest pen with the best Minolta (color) score, above average pH and the lowest cooking loss of the 25 Berkshire pens.  His progeny’s daily gain was also 0.1 above the average, their average loin area was slightly above average and the group had a 2.50 feed conversion ratio.  A son of rosette Count was a 1999 NBS Super Sire; again with excellent gain, backfat and muscle quality scores.  
•  Acquired by Mike as an outcross to most Berkshire lines prevalent today; Rosette Count is a big framed, long bodied and well designed boar. 
•  He is long faced, long fronted and sound off both ends.  With his excellent Berkshire color markings and erect ears, he looks like a Berkshire.  Four boars recently off test at Killingsworth’s averaged 0.54 BF and 7.40 LEA.  Rosette Count’s first daughters have excellent underlines and are averaging over 9 weaned. 
•  Al Christian recognized the potential of this guy to make better Berkshires and brought him to Iowa State. 
•  We certainly appreciate Al letting SGI lease this powerful boar and offer his intriguing genetics to our customers.  He has been used extensively in a 1000 sow Berkshire herd in Japan that sells Berkshire meat in the very quality conscious Japanese market.  They reported that he is the best U.S. Berkshire used in their herd since Kahuna.
