TUT3 HORIZON 1-4

• Horizon was the 1994 Summer Conference Grand Champion and Top Selling Littermate boars stood second and third to Horizon in class.  He was acclaimed by many to be one of the best Berkshire boars to surface in recent years because of his extreme leanness 0.63 BF at 306 Lbs and extra skeletal size combined with excellent Berkshire breed character and soundness of structural design. 
• In addition, he is a super clean fronted, up-headed and very muscular boar.  He has excellent muscle expression down his top and a thick square rump with a big bulging ham.  He scanned the largest loin ((7.06) by Real Time at the Summer Conference. 
• Horizon is a flexible, big-footed boar that is very sound on his feet and legs.  He has a prominent, well-spaced underline.  From a gilt litter of 12 farrowed and 12 weaned; Horizon is backed by superior individuals on both sides of his pedigree. 
• His sire, Bucky 25-2, was Reserve Premier Sire at the 1994 Summer Type Conference and the National Barrow Show.  He sired the Champion Gilt and Champion Junior Barrow at the 1994 Illinois State Fair as well as the Champion Gilt at the National Barrow Show that scanned 0.71 BF and 8.04 LEA at 282 lb. 
• Horizon’s paternal grandsire, Bucky 9-3, was Reserve Premier sire at the 1993 SW Conference and World Pork Expo.  He sired the Reserve Champion Gilt in 1992 and Champion Boar in 1993 at the Illinois State Fair. 
• Horizon’s maternal grandsire was the top-indexing boar in the Berkshire National Test with an index of 132.  SGI, as well as many others, were extremely disappointed when we discovered that the semen quality on Horizon was poor initially. 
• Now that Horizon is producing an ample amount of good quality sperm; we are confident he will take the Berkshire breed to new “horizons”. 
• He surely has the potential to generate bigger, leaner productive females; boars that will produce the loin muscle and leanness desired in the Berkshire “Black Gold” program and lean, heavy muscled barrows with the extra style and balance needed to produce a winner in the show pig arena.
