  • Kahuna is the world record gaining Berkshire boar at 3.01 lb per day and the all time record selling Berkshire Boar at $15,000.  When you consider the 0.68 BF (scanned by Real Time) combined with the 3.01 ADG, Kahuna truly represents a phenomenal performance package.  When you add in his outstanding phenotypic makeup, Kahuna becomes the most powerful Test Station Graduate to ever stand at SGI regardless of breed.
  •  He is particularly strong in the areas that can be very beneficial to the Berkshire breed; growth, leanness, muscle expression and rump design.
  • Kahuna is an extra wide sprung, wide based boar.
  • He is a powerful fronted; yet clean fronted boar that is wide chested and bold shouldered.
  • He is long bodied; level designed with an ideal rump structure exhibiting a long, level rump and high tail setting.
  • He has the most muscle volume and expression over the loin, through the rump and down through his ham that we have ever encountered in a Berkshire boar.  Show pig exhibitors take note; with his muscle, style and balance, he can really work on Kruger’s daughters or most any bloodline to produce a winner.
  • Kahuna did not just happened; he is bred to be a truce generator.  Kahuna’s sire was the top selling boar in Mapes 1990 fall sale and littermate was Champion Berkshire boar at the 1991 Wisconsin State Fair.  Littermate gilts to Kahuna’s sire were the top selling gilt at the 1990 Summer Conference and the Reserve Champion at the Ohio state Fair.  Of course, Kahuna’s paternal grandsire, SGI 609 Beachboy 14-2, is no stranger to Berkshire breeders.  He sired the Champion Berkshire Barrow at Houston in 1989 and was premier sire at Ohio, Indiana, NBS, 5-Star, and SW Conference.
  • The dam of Kahuna’s sire was Champion female at the 1987 Keystone International and littermate to a top-indexing pen of boars over all breeds at the Ohio Test Station with a Berkshire record 214 feed efficiency.
  • The paternal great granddam and maternal granddam of Kahuna, Miss Laudable 8-8, is a Hall of Frame sow.  She has raised 13 litters, has 26 herd sires serving in Berkshire herds and was the dam of the top-indexing pen over all breeds in the August 1987 and 1988.  Die Hard, the maternal grandsire of Kahuna, was the 1988 Illinois Grand Champion boar.  He again sired numerous State Fair Champions and was Premier Sire at the 1990 Ohio State Fair, 1991 and 1992 5-Star Show and Sale and the 1990 and 1991 World Pork Expos.
  • Kahuna has a very good underline, excellent testicle size and placement along with a high degree of libido.  He produces a large volume of high quality semen.
  • Kahuna puts together the complete package of performance, cutability, correctness of design and soundness that will satisfy both the swine production and packing industries.
