When we first saw BIG FOOT we were immediately impressed by his superior phenotypic design and mobility in terms of his extra total muscle volume yet extreme levelness and flexibility of top and rump, correct set and boldness of shoulder, ideal cushion to his legs and pasterns, as well as his extremely big feet. He is also a wide based, stout headed, heavy boned boar with a huge forearm. When we added to this superior phenotype the fact that he is a double-bred NB&S Champ (the Champion Boar we tried to purchase at the 1984 NBS) and his superior test station performance, we knew he was the Spotted boar we had been seeking. BIG FOOT’s sire was a test station graduate (2.10 ADG, 152 days to 230 lb. 0.88 BF, 5.89 LEA, and 253 FE) that has consistently stamped his first crop of pigs with extra muscle, heaviness of skeleton, and correct design. BIG FOOT is from an outstanding litter that included two other superior boars in his test pen and two excellent gilts retained by Yokley’s. BIG FOOT’s sire is the top ranking boar in the Yokley herd on BVSPI. BIG FOOT’s maternal granddam is the top ranking sow in the herd (BVSPI 107.2) and was the second place gilt at the 1983 Missouri State Fair. His paternal granddam was the Reserve Champion Gilt at the Indiana State Fair. BIG FOOT sired the Champion at the 1987 Iowa State Fair. BIG FOOT is a very aggressive boar with excellent testicle size and a superior underline. We have had several tell us that BIG FOOT may well be one of the very best boars of any breed to stand at SGI.
