CANSECO was the fastest growing boar ever at Shipley’s, reaching 230 lb in only 122 days. His two littermates were 126 and 128 days, and his sire 129 days to 230 lb. The three boars in CANSECO’s litter average 0.70 backfat and 6.14 loin eye area. CANSECO is an extremely long bodied, long rumped boar yet has tremendous natural thickness of body with a big, bold shoulder, extreme thickness of center rib, a huge rump, and a deep, thick, well-shaped ham. He is a heavy boned boar that has big feet with even toes and moves correctly, front and rear. CANSECO’s dam, her full sister, and their dam have been the most productive and best generating sows in the Shipley herd. Out of 80 Duroc sows, all but 10 trace to CANSECO’s granddam, 23-2 by Watermelon, with 18 presently being direct daughters. CANSECO’s dam has averaged 9 weaned in six litters and CANSECO is out of a litter of 13 farrowed, 11 weaned, and 139 lb 21-day litter weight. Shipley’s kept six littermate gilts to CANSECO. A full sister one year older has farrowed 21 and raised 20 in her first two litters.
