GHOST is a wide based, heavy boned, sound structured Yorkshire boar that was added to the stud with the commercial producer’s interest in mind. Although he was not tested in a central station, GHOST and his littermate boars were raised under similar conditions to most test stations. There is also proven, superior test station performance on both sides of his pedigree. On the top side, GHOST is a half brother (by the same sire) to SGI 230 Whopper who sired two top indexing test station boars with the following average performace: 2.74 ADG, 132 days to 230 lb, 0.75 BF, 241 FE, 165 index. His dam is a littermate to Scooter, the senior herd sire at Jim Grimm’s. Scooter sired the top indexing pen at Ida Grove with the following performance: 2.48 ADG, 135 days to 230 lb, 0.90 BF, 6.24 LEA, 227 FE, 134 index. Scooter also sired the Reserve Champion Yorkshire Boar at the 1987 National Barrow Show exhibited by Loren Ramse. GHOST combines the genetics of the Twin Pine, George Watson, and Jim Grimm herds, all of which have a reputation for producing Yorkshires that consistently work for the commercial producer. GHOST should add bone and body width to most herds, would be an excellent choice to work with Landrace for the production of replacement females, and has the heaviness of structure, correctness of design, and muscle epxression to produce Yorkshire or blue-butt show barrows.
