Longfellow is a very intriguing boar from the standpoint of combining tremendous length of body with extra spring of rib and natural width and depth of body from end to end. A very maternal appearing boar, Longfellow is a long-faced, long-necked boar that is very level and long in both his top and rump structure. He has excellent muscle shape down his top with an 8.35 LEA and a big, thick rump and ham, yet handles this tremendous muscle volume extremely well. He is a long-striding, freewheeling boar with good foot size. His sire, Master Genetic Supplier, combines some of the best Swedish and English Large White genetics. He is a big-framed, heavy-structured, long-bodied, big-footed, heavy-muscled boar that has been a female sire deluxe at Leanmaster Genetics. He sired the Chmapion Gilt at the Illinois State Fair, 1st and 2nd place boars as well as a 1st place gilt at the 1998 Southwest Conference. Longfellow’s dam, 3 AV Mossle 79, was imported from Sweden from the same farm as Viking and Uron. She has been a maternal giant at Leanmaster averaging 11.5 farrowed and 10.4 weaned for 10 parities. Longevity has been a strong point on both sides of Longfellow’s pedigree. Viking and Uron’s daughters have been the favorite of many SGI customers because of their high productivity and superior longevity. The Leanmaster Large White sow herd is built around Longfellow’s dam and maternal grandam, 3 Tates Queen 1601. Bill truly believes Longfellow is one of the very best he has ever bred while Jim Grimm and Kirk Swanson have put their stamp of approval on him as SGI partners.
