Jens and Ulf have certainly been two of the most influential sires in the Yorkshire breed in terms of sow reproductivity. Both have been top ranking sires on Maternal Line Index, Number Born Alive and Litterwieght. Ulf is still ranked 2nd on MLI and Jens is 1st on LWT in the November 1998 Yorkshire Across-Herd Sire Summary. Jens 52-1 puts the powerful maternal genetics of these two legends together in a very sound and functional package. He is a long-faced, long-bodied and level made boar. He particularly excels in levelness of rump and correctness to his hip and rear leg structure. He has big, even toes, very good skeletal mass yet is a late maturing boar that is very flexible and free-wheeling. A lean and trim boar, Jens 52-1 still has good spring and depth of rib and his offspring have been tough, easy growing kind of hogs. Jens 52-1 also has an excellent underline. Jens 52-1 and his littermate were the top two indexing boars for both MLI and TSI in their contemporary group. His daughters have consistently been at the top of their contemporary group for growth rate (Days) yet have scanned in the 0.40 to 0.60 range on backfat with 6.5 to 7.75 LEA. When you consider his strong maternal ancestry and his excellent EPDs for Days, BF, NBA, and LWT; there is no question that Jens 52-1 will sire females that will be highly productive under typical commercial conditions.
