Hickory was the Reserve Champion boar at the 1997 World Pork Expo. He is a heads-up boar that excels in design and lean muscle content. He is tall fronted and level topped, being particularly long and level in his rump structure. His huge blades are really pulled apart at the top of his shoulders and he is extremely lean down his very muscular top. Hickory is a wide based, heavy structured boar that stands square on all four feet and moves out with excellent flexion and mobility. He has a big grooved top, pops a big stifle muscle and has a very thick, muscular ham. He is a double bred Intimidator, the top selling boar at the 1995 Sweetwater Conference. Not only does Hickory have the frame and muscle typical of the Intimidator line, he is also backed by excellent sow productivity. Intimidator is the current top ranking Hampshire boar on Maternal Line Index at 141.1 with EPDs of 0.79 NBA, 2.4 LWT, -4.4 Days and -0.03 BF. Hickory also has KTF Impact 16-6, the 5th Ranking Hampshire sire on Maternal Line Index at 131.7, on both sides of his pedigree. The dams of Hickory’s sire and dam were both sired by Impact. Impact also consistently sired big, lean, heavy msucled Hampshires. Hickory was the top indexing boar in his contemporary group for both TSI and MLI. Joe is keeping three big, lean, muscular and broody littermate gilts. Hickory’s dam has averaged 12.5 born alive (EPD 0.80), 141 lb 21-day litter weight (EPD 0.70) with a 129.4 SPI. Hickory, like the tree is a a sturdy, tough dude that can help strengthen your genetic foundation. He is truly a multi-facet boar that can produce superior breeding Hampshires, show pigs as well as contribute positive attributes to maternal lines.
