Recent research has indicated that the Chester White breed excels in overall sow productivity. BELUGA was leased from Dale Miller primarily because of the proven productivity of his daughters along with his superb growth pattern. The first nine daughters at Trolka Farms average 11.7 farrowed, 10.2 weaned and a 132 lb actual 21 day weight. BELUGA had the highest weight per day of age (1.82) at the 1982 Chester Summer Spotlight. He has passed this superior growth on to his offspring with three of his sons returning to the 1983 Chester Spotlight with superior weights per day of day of 1.78, 1.61 and 1.57 and an average backfat of only 0.76. A pen of four Chester barrows sired by BELUGA broke the Minnesota Test Station Index Record for Chesters and ranked third overall breeds and crosses with an average cutout of 31.8 in long, 1.12 backfat and 5.10 loin eye. A linebred BELUGA sow produced the fastest growing and champion purebred barrow in the Minnesota State Fair Production Test Barrow Contest that had the following performance: 2.37 ADG, 1.10 BF, 6.20 LEA, 32.6 length at 265 pounds and 0.844 lb lean gain per day. Those that have seen BELUGA have been awed by his overall scale and tremendous soundness. He is a long-bodied yet big-volumed boar that is tremendously big in all dimensions. He has stayed very sound and active at 4 years of age. If you are interested in producing big capacity, fast growing replacement females that will milk like Holstein cows, we suggest you try BELUGA!
