Next up on the “HOW TO” series is CHALK THE FIELD
CHALK THE FIELD – Dirty South x Dirty Secret x Fortune
CHALK THE FIELD comes to us from KB Showpigs (Kale Boysen) and his first litters arrived later this Spring. We couldn’t be more excited about what we’ve seen. Customers have raved about their look, proportions, density and comfort level. CHALK THE FIELD’s mother is a littermate to the Grand Barrow at the 2018 Iowa State Fair 4H Show (one of the very best barrows ever raised by Lettow Showpigs), and is fast becoming known as a big-time generator of elite showpigs. CHALK’s littermate sister was top 5 in her Division at Kansas City last Fall and was the high-selling gilt at $25,000 in the American Royal gilt sale.
The playbook: CHALK THE FIELD brings some unique, barrow-building intangibles to the table! CHALK is extreme in his comfort level, build and proportions. He’s also very dark pigmented and shaggy, and his initial crop of pigs looks to be the same. This guy’s pedigree screams show barrow, and the way he works his hind leg says the very same thing. Not many crossbred boars offer this sort of agility, and because of that we believe that his sweet spot will be mating him to burly-built power sows that need fixed in their build and function.
