• We originally went to Franklin Albertsen’s to look at a prospective Hampshire herd sire and were awed with the tremendous muscle thickness and heaviness of structure, combined with the length of body, correctness of design, and looseness of structure, of GRIZZLY. 
• When we saw the outstanding set of sows GRIZZLY had sired, we were even more impressed.  They have the same muscle thickness and heaviness of structure, along with general mobility and correctness of structure, as their sire, plus excellent udder quality.  They have been very fertile, prolific,  and terrific milkers. 
• The GRIZZLY sows were definitely the most popular in Franklin’s June Bred Sow Bonanza.  Grizzly sons have been extremely aggressive and durable regardless of the type of facility in which they have been used. 
• GRIZZLY’s offspring have bred on, not only in superior reproductive performance, but also in terms of growth and carcass merit.  Twenty-four pigs out of sons and daughters of GRIZZLY tested in The World Pork Expo Challenge had the following figures: 1.68 ADG, 31.85 length, 0.93 BF, and 5.82 LEA.  These are well above the average for the test of 1.56 ADG, 1.23 BF, and 5.63 LEA. 
• When Franklin asked if we would custom freeze semen on  GRIZZLY, we quickly offered to lease him because of the many positive attributes he can offer the Poland breed and the hog industry in general. 
•  Since coming to SGI, visitors, regardless of the breed(s) they raise or use in commercial pork production, have consistently commented on the individual excellence of GRIZZLY and what a great job he could do siring show barrows and market pigs.
