  • DIAMOND was the very popular and top selling boar at the 1994 Southeast Conference.  He is an extra long-bodied, level made boar that excels in rump structure being very long and thick from his hip to pin bones with a high tail setting.
  • Along with his superior length, DIAMOND is a wide based, wide chested boar with very good spring of rib.  A sound, free moving boar, he has a large volume of muscle spread over his heavy-duty skeleton in a very ideal pattern for a maternal line sire.
  • DIAMOND is from an excellent litter with three littermate brothers performing well in the Indiana NEW Test.  Their average performance was 2.36 ADG, 146 days to 240 lbs, 0.72 backfat, 5.70 LEA and 232 FE.  Two littermate gilts were retained at Farrer’s and another placed second behind the Reserve Champion at Louisville.  Sired by a son of SGI 2219, JM Ulf 62-6, and out of a Blueprint dam; sow productivity and superior performance are stamped into DIAMOND’s pedigree for several generations.  JM Ulf 62-6 is the top ranking living sire out of over 7000 sires in the Yorkshire breed for Maternal Line Index with EPDS of –0.13 BF, 1.01 born live and 8.54 21-day litter weight.  A littermate sister to Ulf 62-6 is featured on the cover of the January 1994 Yorkshire Journal and has a lifetime 163 lb 21-day litter weight average (EPD 13.87).
  • DIAMOND’s sire, JMF2 Diamond 14-3 is one of the trait leaders in the January 1994  Across Herd Summary for backfat EPDS (-0.09), days EPDS (-3.89) and Terminal Sire Index (139.3).  His dam averaged 11 born, 9.2 weaned and 132 lb 21-day litter weight for 6 parities while her 3 littermate sisters averaged 10.0 born, 9.6 weaned and 133 lb 21-day litter weight in their combined 13 litters.  Four littermate sisters to JMF 2 Diamond 14-3 attained excellent records on their first litters of 14, 14, 13 & 12 born live, 11, 12, 12 & 10 weaned and 151, 148, 156 & 161 lb 21-day litter weights.
  • JFM2 Diamond 14-3 has really left his mark at Farrer’s in the production of superior females.  The sire of DIAMOND’s dam, Blueprint, has also been consistently listed among the trait leaders for backfat, growth and terminal sire index during the past two years.  DIAMOND’s dam has a lifetime average of 11.3 born live (0.2 EPD), 8.6 weaned and 126 lb 21-day litter weight (1.23 EPD).
  • DIAMOND’s maternal granddam is a littermate to the sire of the Grand Barrow at Houston in 1990.  She has averaged 13.0 born live, 9.5 weaned and 131 lb 21-day litter for 6 parities.
  • With DIAMOND’s EPDS for days, backfat, born live and litter weight all significant in the right direction, his strong heritage and outstanding phenotypic design; he may well be a “DIAMOND” in the rough.
