• VASA is an upstanding, sound, structurally correct son of SGI 289 Viking.  Viking has certainly built a reputation for generating extremely lean, high cutability offspring that also excel in maternal traits.  In the June 1993 Yorkshire Crossherd Sire Summary Viking is 7^th ranking on EPDS for backfat and 9^th ranking on Maternal Line Index. 
• VASA  also exemplifies a high degree of cutability while maintaining good width of body and ruggedness.  He is a clean-headed boar that is trim through his middle and flank; yet is wide-fronted, and expanded through the center of his rib cage. 
• As VASA walks away from you, his square lean, shaped-turned loin edge is quite evident and accentuated by the high degree of muscling out through his rump and ham. 
• VASA is a very active, free wheeling, super sound boar. 
• On the maternal side VASA represents the Secret line which has consistently crossed well with boars of Swedish heritage.  VASA’s dam has averaged 11.7 born live, 9.7 weaned, 139.3 lb 21-day litter weight, 147 days farrowing interval and 106.37 SPI.  Twenty sons and daughters of VASA’s dam have averaged a very commendable 0.52 BF and 6.39 LEA.  Her sons have consistently been some of the very first selected by commercial producers because of their excellent muscle and leanness combined with good structure and ruggedness. 
• We certainly feel that  VASA can continue the trend toward leaner yet very maternally productive Yorkshires that have been a trademark of the Swedish imports.  At the same time he combines these attributes with the natural width of body and toughness desired in most commercial operations.
