• Buckskin was the Champion and $6400 Top Selling Berkshire Boar at the 1998 National Barrow Show.  After spirited bidding by several coalitions of Berkshire breeders he came to SGI in partnership with Greg Innerst and Myron Dammann (Triple M Farm).  Greg and Myron’s faith in Buckskin’s breeding potential made us even more confident in his ability to help bring the Berkshire breed to the next level. 
• He is a unique Berkshire in terms of his true shape of top, extra flair to his rump and thick-centered, very muscular ham. 
• Along with his superior muscling, Buckskin is a heavy structured, durable boar that has excellent spring of rib and natural width from front to rear. 
• A stylish, very sound even toed boar; he strides out with authority and the awe of a Champion. 
• Certainly Japan’s demand for imported Berkshire meat from the U.S. has had a profound influence on the U.S. Berkshire Breed.  SGI has had the good fortune to have Buckskin’s paternal grandsire, Rawhide, and maternal Grandsire, Clean Top, in the stud.  A substantial amount of semen from these two boars went into a 1000 sow purebred Berkshire unit in Japan operated by Pacific Ocean Breeding. 
• Rawhide descendants have improved growth, durability and efficiency in this herd while Clean Top’s offspring excelled in loin eye size and meat quality.  The interest in Buckskin’s semen since Austin has excelled any Berkshire boar since Horizon and Kahuna. 
• Again, we feel Buckskin can take you to the next level by combining superior muscling with excellent structure and the renowned Berkshire meat quality.
