RCW0 LAZARUS 1-2

• At the 2000 Chester White Summer Spotlight Randy Schmidt picked Lazarus as the boar he felt he could “hang his hat on”.  He has the longest bodied, with a big level frame, and a high tail setting.  He had a docile, calm temperament but knew he was a boar.  His underline was 8-7 high quality nipples. 
• At 181 days of age he weighed 292 lb with a .46 BF, 7.8 LEA and 1.61 WDA.  His littermate sister was the popular Reserve champion Gilt with .43 BF, 8.1 LEA and 1.38 WDA at 249 lb and a beautiful 7-7 underline.  Rudasills are keeping two outstanding littermate sisters at home. 
• Lazarus’ mother is a big long level sow that in four litters has farrowed 51 and weaned 42 pigs.  Lazarus has three full sisters in the Rudasill herd and to date they have farrowed five litters (59 born and 54 weaned).  At the 1998 NBS progeny test with 13 pens of Chester Whites tested, progeny of his grandsire, KDI6 Impulse, came in 1^st in pH, cooking loss and loin eye size.  His progeny was 2^nd in soundness and length and 3^rd in Minolta, feed efficiency and backfat.  He was a NBS super Sire but most important he had a muscle quality score of 77.25; which was best of all breeds in 1998 and 4^th best score in history of the test.  In the 1999 NBS progeny test a son of KDI6 Impulse had a muscle quality score of 74.20 (the best all breeds) and at the 2000 NBS progeny test a son of SC8 Impulse had a muscle quality score of 70.01 which was 2^nd best all breeds.  A son of RCW6 Walker 12-1 had a score of 65.70, which was 3^rd best Chester White and 89^th best over all breeds. 
• Chester Whites had the best average muscle quality score of over all breeds.  Progressive commercial operations getting their sow herds ready for the future need longer lasting productive sows with good muscle quality. 
• Lazarus should increase the odds their offspring will have these qualities.
