• Sambo III was a planned mating of the original SGI Sambo and a littermate to Kolb's Chances Are and Nathan 21-8 at Huinker's. 
• Sambo was one of the trait leaders in Maternal Line Index as well as EPD's for Days and Number Born Alive in the early Duroc Across Herd Sire Summaries.  The Sambo line has also demonstrated very good muscle quality chracteristics. 
• A Sambo son, RN2 Tested Best 55-3, is currently the 7th ranking Duroc boar for MLI.  Chances Are sired the $41,000.00 Red Ace working at Howard Parrish and Nathan 21-8 is rapidly becoming a rival to his illustrious sire, Nathan 19-2, as the top sire at Huinkers, Sambo III's dam, 21-6 has an SPI of 116.7 with an average of 15.9 NBA (EPD 0.4) and 166 lb 21-day litter weight (EPD 0.4).  The 85-3 sow at Huinkers (Sambo III's maternal grandam) has not only been a true generator of outstanding Durocs, but has also been very productive. 
• Sambo III is a real truck being tremendously wide made throughout.  Wide chested, bold shoulders, extra spring of rib, big hipped and very thick ham all describe Sambo III phenotypically.  A heavy boned, very sound, level made and well balanced boar; he is an extra tough, durable and problem free horse. 
• Sambo III had an actual scan of 0.65 BF at 305 lb with an 8.,54 loin eye; thus, he combines very predictable lean muscle content with extra growth (-4.0 EPD Days). 
• Sambo was the 2nd top boar in his contemporary group for lean gain per day while littermates were 1st and 3rd.  These three boars averaged 139 days to 230 lb, 0.51 BF and 0.71 lb lean gain per day from birth.  John Huinker retained two littermate gilts. 
• If you are looking for a traditional wide sprung, fast growing, extrememly tough made Duroc that also has an abundance of muscle and very good maternal attrlibutes, Sambo III is the answer.
