- Franco was the very popular third high selling boar at the 1996 World Pork Expo. He combines the extension of skeleton and extreme leanness of the Fjord (Franz) line with the rapid growth, heaviness of structure and extra thickness of butt muscle of the Meat Wagon and Sambo lines. He is tall, long fronted, extremely long bodied and really naked down his top as well as extra trim about the jowl, lower shoulder and belly region. A square, expressive top is set off by a big dimple above the tail and extremely thick, expressively muscled ham.
- Franco is also a heavy structured boar with a big blade, excellent bone and good foot size. The 146 days to 230 lb and –1.30 EPD for days is the exception for a boar of his extreme skeletal extension and leanness.
- Franco is from an outstanding litter with equally impressive littermates serving in Ray Brown’s Iowa herd and the Ramirez’s herd in Mexico.
- Franco and his three littermate brothers ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th on Terminal Sire Index in their contemporary group. Two big framed, heavy muscled, exceptionally lean gilts remain at Rouse & Hodson’s.
- Franco could surely sire some “eye poppin” barrows; however, with his excellent performance and correctness of structure he is also a definite breeding piece that can build bigger and better Durocs.
- As one admirer commented at the Expo, “He is certainly a big framed, extra lean, heavy structure, big butted stud.
