JDR1 KIAMICHI 1-13

• Certainly there is a need to decrease fat cover in all breeds to meet the lean value marketing programs.  However, the need is probably more paramount in the Chester White Breed than most. 
• Kiamichi was the talk of the barn at the World Pork Expo because of his tremendous potential to generate bigger framed, longer bodied, and later maturing Chesters that will stay lean to a heavy weight. 
• Kiamichi certainly hasn’t disappointed us in his development since the Expo.  He has continued to grow frame, stay extremely free of fat and maintain his excellent muscle expression over the top and out through his rump and ham. 
• He is not only the biggest, leanest Chester at SGI but he will give any of the boars, regardless of breed, a run for the money in terms of skeletal size, freedom of fat and maturity pattern.  Kiamichi is also a sound, free moving boar with an excellent underline. 
• His sire, Power Play, was the top selling boar at the 1991 Summer Conference.  He was a big framed, yet extra wide sprung, wide chested boar.  Power Play’s dam (Kiamichi’s paternal granddam) is a big framed, heavy boned sow that averaged 8.7 weaned in her first three litters.  Kiamichi’s dam is also a big-framed sow that has been very productive.  She has farrowed 89 pigs in seven litters and weaned 84 of them.  She is still going strong being very sound, youthful in appearance with excellent udder quality.  Not many sows will wean an average of 12 for 7 parities.  Kiamichi’s maternal granddam averaged 9.7 weaned in 7 litters while his maternal great granddam is the tremendous producing sow, Miss TK0 27-5 that weaned 9.9 pigs per litter for 10 parities. 
• As many of our customers know, Kiamichi injured a testicle shortly after the Expo and was out of commission for a couple of months.  He is now recovered and produces a good volume of high quality semen.  Conception rate has been excellent. 
• Because of Kiamichi’s outstanding combination of frame size, leanness and muscle expression backed by truly superior sow productivity, we are confident he will generate breeding improving Chesters, super productive, yet lean F-1 or white line females and top notch show barrows.
